Oats being rich in minerals, vitamins and proteins provide this dish with a great nutritious value without compromising on the exquisite taste. This low-calorie oats idli dish is simple to prepare and ideal for a satisfying, healthy, and light breakfast.

Recipe:

1. On a pan, dry roast the oats until it turns slightly brown, and then crush the oats in a mixer.

2. In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, and channa dal. Allow the mustard to splutter and the dals to turn golden.

3. To this, add the chopped chilies, coriander, and grated carrots.

4. Add the turmeric powder and fry for a minute.

5. Add this seasoning to the powdered oats mixture and add the curd to it to make a batter like that of the idli batter's consistency.

6. You can add as much curd to the mixture to achieve consistency, but do not add water to the batter.

7. Grease the idli steamer plates with oil and pour the batter into each area of the steamer.

8. Steam the idlis for 15 minutes.

9. Once done, remove the idlis and serve with Onion chutney.

Light Breakfast Idea #2- Methi Thepla

Thepla is a popular Gujarati dish that is a soft Indian flatbread. Thepla is simple to make at home. You may make this as a quick breakfast, pair it with your preferred sides, and start your day!

Recipe:

1. To make Theplas you need to set aside the following ingredients.

  • 2 Cups atta
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp dried methi
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ginger and green chilies (make a paste)
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Yogurt
  • As needed water

2. Take all the ingredients to a bowl and mix well.

3. Knead the ingredients well with yogurt and some water.

4. Make thin paranthas out of the dough. And cook the paranthas from both sides, over a high flame until they turn greenish brown.

5. Serve hot.


Light Breakfast Idea #3- Moong Dal Chila

These Indian pancakes are loaded with nutrition. Prepared with a batter that has moong dal, paneer, and vegetables inside.

Recipe:

1. Soak the moong dal overnight and grind it with some salt into a consistent flowing batter.

3. Add the cashew nuts along with chopped onions, cabbage, and capsicum.

4. Dab some ghee on top and flip it over to cook for a few minutes.

Recipe:

1. Boil water.

2. Slice onions and cut the chilies lengthwise.

3. Heat a deep pan with ghee. Add mustard, when crackling add the dals and sauté until golden.

4. Add onions, curry leaves, cashew nuts, and green chilies. When the onions are translucent add semolina (suji) and sauté.

5. Add the boiling water and stir rapidly with the salt. When the moisture is absorbed, the upma is cooked.

6. Mix well and garnish with grated coconut and coriander leaves.
